Move applications to free disk space. jailbreak prep, etc.

BossTool BossTool BossTool BossTool

This application can do 3 things.

1. Free Disk Space
2. iPod Wiper
3. Jailbreak Prep

Warning. . .
1 - Free Disk Space
If you use this application to ‘Free Disk Space’ you may need to restore your iPhone/iPod Touch after future updates. What this does is it moves the folder that your applications are stored. . .and puts them where you’re media is(instead of the OS software). So instead of 50-100MB of space for your applications. . .you’ll have 4, 8, or 16GB. If you’ve ever tried installing an application and then see Installer.app crash before the install completes, then you’ve reached you’re limit of space for your applications/themes.

What this does is it moves your applications over to your media partition. Make sure you have enough space for BossTool to move these applications. . .if you don’t have enough space you will lose your applications. Then it creates a symlink(jargon for shortcut) between the original directory and the new one.

This also works with wallpapers and ringtones.

2 - iPod Wiper
In case you can’t get to the original computer that you synced videos/music on. You can use this application to restore the media folder without restoring the rest of the iPhone/iPod Touch. When it finishes you will have no more music or videos.

3 - Jailbreak Prep
This will prepare your iPhone/iPod Touch to jailbreak v1.1.2 for an upgrade. Use this on firmware v1.1.1 and then update to v1.1.2. After the upgrade you can run the jailbreak 1.1.2 package.

I put up the warning because I went into SSH and did this to my iPod Touch before this app was out. . .then an update came out for SummerBoard and it broke. It kept hanging at the unlock screen. . .and wouldn’t let me unlock it.

I went ahead and did this again. . .I mean it would suck. . .a LOT. . .if it happened again. But I’ll take the risk. I don’t like having th at limit on the apps that I can install.
